TVS Motor chairman and MD Sudarshan Venu on Wednesday signalled TVS Credit’s strategic direction, hinting that the NBFC is no longer merely a financing arm for two-wheelers but a significant standalone business.“Our financial services business, TVS Credit, has had a strong year. Disbursements grew 26% and the company ended the year with an asset base of over 30,000 crores, serving over 2.24 million customers across two-wheelers, consumer durables, tractors and other products,” he said, while addressing the company’s shareholders in the AGM.“Looking ahead, the company may at an appropriate time, in stages, guided by long-term strategic considerations, evaluate alternatives including a possible separation of the financial services business to further strengthen and unlock shareholder value,” Venu added.This is the first such indication that the automotive conglomerate is open to unlocking value from its financial services business.TVS Credit reported a total Income of ₹1,918 crores for Q1 FY27, a growth of 13% from Q1 FY26, and a net profit of ₹208 crores for Q1 FY27, a growth of 15% compared to the same period last year. In Q1 FY27, the company disbursed loans to over 14 lakh new customers, bringing its total customer base to nearly 2.6 crore. This was aided by improved consumption demand and traction across key retail financing segments, TVS Credit said in its earnings statement.Replying to a shareholder’s query on TVS Motor’s investment in Jana Small Finance Bank, Venu said that the capital allocation follows their strategy on investing in growth of financial services business.“For example, the financial services business has seen significant allocation of capital and it is now very profitable and fast growing. Our investment in Jana is part of this vision of financial services of an aspirational India and we see lot of synergies and we believe that the bank will do well, which is why we have made this investment,” he said.Published on July 22, 2026
