Christopher Nolan, the British-American director, has perfect Aryan features – Nordic, blue eyes, blonde hair, a symmetrical face. And is, at present, one of the greatest filmmakers on earth. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer, and other incredible movies have given him superhuman status. Big studios bow to his will, critics write paeans in praise of his creations, audiences flock to cinemas to see the latest Nolan movie. He keeps on rising.

Now, he’s gone and cast a black woman, yes, a black woman, to play Helen in his latest epic, The Odyssey. And has Elliot Page, a trans actor, playing a Greek warrior. Helen in the Greek myths was the most beautiful woman in the world. Lupita Nyong’o is, it is true, exquisite – skin like polished ebony, eyes that are at once inviting and defiant, a body that seems to have been sculpted by God.

Elon Musk has let it be known that he finds these choices offensive. Having been raised in Apartheid South Africa, he seemingly finds it impossibly hard to adjust to modern values of equality and inclusivity.

To him, a black Helen proves Hollywood is “anti-white”. It is tedious and irritating, but these guys leading the rabid right march against “wokeism” think they have the power.
