Reacting to the unfolding crisis, Fayemi-Obayelu stated that she had become the target of threats because of her insistence on exposing what she described as bribery, forgery and corruption.

Hon. Dr. Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu, the member representing Ilaje Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has alleged that she narrowly escaped an assassination attempt and has been receiving repeated death threats over her ongoing investigation into bribery, forgery, and corruption involving the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

The lawmaker made this known on Tuesday in a public statement, insisting that no amount of intimidation or threats would force her to abandon what she described as her investigation into alleged financial misconduct within the Assembly.

Her latest allegations come amid an escalating political crisis in the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that lawmakers in the Assembly were expected to determine the political fate of Speaker Oladiji and Deputy Speaker Ololade Gbegudu during Tuesday's plenary after they allegedly failed to resign over the controversy surrounding the handling of ₦44 million reportedly received from OSOPADEC.
