Multiple sources within the Assembly told SaharaReporters that Oladiji earlier in the day considered resigning ahead of an expected move by lawmakers on Tuesday over the controversy.
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, considered resigning on Monday amid an unfolding leadership crisis linked to allegations surrounding the handling of ₦44 million reportedly sourced from the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), SaharaReporters has learnt.
Multiple sources within the Assembly told SaharaReporters that Oladiji earlier in the day considered resigning ahead of an expected move by lawmakers on Tuesday over the controversy.
According to the sources, the Clerk of the House, Benjamin Jaiyeola, may also be redeployed over the matter.
The Speaker, who represents Ondo East Constituency, and the Deputy Speaker, Ololade Gbegudu, who represents Okitipupa Constituency II, were said to have come under increasing pressure to step down following growing discontent among lawmakers over the alleged handling of funds reportedly released by OSOPADEC to members of the Assembly
