The reduction of main survivors’ pensions, provided for under the Tsipras/Katrougalos law of 2016, from 70% to 35% after three years is being abolished.
There are 8,500 public-sector survivors’ pensioners who have been affected by this reduction.
From next month, namely the end of August, these 8,500 pensioners will see the main survivors’ pension they receive double, and they will continue to receive this doubled pension for life under the proposed regulation.
“We are introducing a legislative provision that restores a major social injustice and provides a definitive solution to a problem that has affected thousands of families for an entire decade,” Labor Minister Niki Kerameus told Parliament on Tuesday.
