Photon Queue Raises $4M Oversubscribed Seed Round to Commercialize Room-Temperature Quantum Memory

Quantum hardware spin-out Photon Queue has closed an oversubscribed $4 million seed funding round led by Palo Alto-based deep-tech venture firm Playground Global. Additional investors in the round include Cerberus Capital Management, Illinois Ventures, Roadrunner Venture Studios, and MFV Partners.

Spun out of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024, the Champaign-based startup builds room-temperature quantum memory systems designed to eliminate optical synchronization bottlenecks as quantum processing units (QPUs) scale toward networked, multi-chip architectures.
