One person was killed, while 11 travellers abducted during a bandit attack along the Gummi–Sokoto Road were rescued by the Zamfara State Police Command.
The command disclosed that the attack occurred at about 10:30am on Tuesday when suspected bandits ambushed a trailer conveying vegetables and passengers.
According to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and veer off the road.
The police said one of the passengers, identified as Dan Fati Umar of Gidan Ganja, Bukuyum Local Government Area, was killed during the attack, while another sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical treatment.
