OTTAWA — With a stroke of his pen Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump put about 20 per cent of Matt Johnston’s business at risk.
Johnston, the CEO of Hamilton’s Collective Arts Brewing, sends about that much of his beer south of the border today, but Trump’s new 50 per cent tariffs on alcohol, set to come into force Aug. 19, will make his products too expensive to sell in the 10 U.S. states where he sells today.
