MILAN — When Andrea Galletti embarked on the ambitious project of relaunching the dormant fragrance house Satinine last year, his commitment and enthusiasm weren’t immune to occasional doubts.
“A move like this is always a risk; I wondered: ‘Will we ever sell all these scents?,” said the chief executive officer from behind the wooden counter of the brand’s store, seven months after the unit’s opening marked the reawakening of the sleeping beauty label. He was pleasantly surprised, as his goal was for the store to generate half a million euros in sales in its first year, but projections are showing that it will slightly exceed that initial target.

“This is already a success for us, because it means it can sustain itself and we have all our fixed costs covered. Plus, the store complements what we do in our in-house olfactory lab,” said Galletti, referencing the 4,305-square-foot space in Milan’s Bovisa area that carries out its fragrance and soap production, as well as its operations.
