President Donald Trump said the US will strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain “pretty soon and very heavily,” escalating a confrontation over Tehran’s nuclear program. Bitcoin, apparently, did not get the memo.

The comments came during a July 13 interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show, where Trump signaled that the underground complex near Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility is squarely in the crosshairs. For crypto markets, the reaction has been remarkably muted, with major digital assets showing negligible price movement in the hours following the remarks.

What is Pickaxe Mountain and why does it matter

Pickaxe Mountain sits roughly 2 kilometers from Iran’s well-known Natanz enrichment facility and is buried between 300 and 450 feet beneath solid rock.

Israeli intelligence estimates indicate that Iran relocated thousands of uranium-enrichment centrifuges to the site after June 2025, following earlier military engagements that exposed the vulnerability of surface-level facilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency has not been granted access to the site since construction began around 2020.
