Google just dropped a new AI model purpose-built to hunt security vulnerabilities, and the crypto world should be paying attention. Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is a specialized variant of the company’s 3.5 Flash model, designed to find and patch code weaknesses at speeds and price points that undercut larger competitors.
The model is initially rolling out to governments and trusted partners through CodeMender, Google’s security-focused coding agent.
What Flash Cyber actually does
Built on top of the base Gemini 3.5 Flash model that launched on May 19, 2026, the Cyber variant is tuned specifically for security work. Google describes it as a “cost-efficient and highly capable alternative” to larger, more expensive AI systems, directly naming Anthropic’s Mythos as the kind of heavyweight it’s designed to replace in security workflows.
The performance numbers are notable. Flash Cyber delivers a 42% improvement on long-range multi-turn cyber benchmarks compared to its Flash 3 predecessor.
