Telegram is about to turn every chat window into a crypto wallet. The messaging giant plans to ship a native, non-custodial Gram wallet embedded directly into every Telegram client this summer, giving its 1 billion-plus users the ability to send and receive crypto with zero fees, instantly.

Founder Pavel Durov is calling it the largest deployment of a non-custodial crypto wallet in human history. Given the user base, that’s not hyperbole. It’s just math.

What Telegram is actually building

A non-custodial wallet means Telegram never holds your private keys. You do. If Telegram gets hacked, goes down, or gets into another regulatory scuffle, your funds stay yours.

The wallet will be powered by The Open Network, the blockchain layer that has served as Telegram’s exclusive infrastructure since January 2025. Every digital asset transaction within Telegram’s ecosystem already runs on TON. This wallet just brings the experience closer to the surface, embedding it into the core app rather than treating it as a bolt-on feature.
