Augustus, a fintech startup that wants to rewire how dollars move between banks and fintechs globally, has closed a $180 million Series B funding round that values the company at $1 billion. Tiger Global led the round, with participation from Hummingbird, QED Investors, and notable figures from Nubank, Ramp, Circle, and Deel.
The company was founded in 2022. It just became a unicorn in roughly four years.
What Augustus actually does
Augustus is building a technology-first bank that gives international fintechs and banks direct, always-on access to USD accounts. The company’s core banking platform, called Marble, handles transactions across both traditional rails like Swift and ACH and stablecoin networks.
The platform already processes billions of dollars in transaction volume, with clients that include crypto exchange Kraken.
