US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday evening, July 20, that American forces had launched a new series of strikes against Iran.
In a statement, CENTCOM noted that the strikes began at 4:00 PM Eastern Time under orders from the Commander-in-Chief. According to the statement, the objective of these operations was to further degrade the Islamic Republic’s military capabilities used to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Simultaneously, the Telegram channel Vahid Online, citing its followers, reported multiple explosions in Bandar Abbas between 11:33 PM and 11:37 PM. Residents reported one or more severe blasts and shockwaves felt across various parts of the city, including the South Elahiyeh neighbourhood, with some saying that the explosions appeared to originate from the direction of the sea.
Fars News Agency also reported that several explosions were heard near Sirik in eastern Hormozgan Province. The agency noted that the exact location of the blasts remained unknown, adding that local sources had previously reported hearing explosions coming from the sea.
Additionally, early on Tuesday morning, July 21, the news outlet Haalvsh published videos showing heavy airstrikes on Chabahar and Konarak, stating that the IRGC’s Imam Ali Base in Chabahar was among the locations targeted.
