The alert warned that the regional security environment remains volatile, with the potential for sudden and unexpected escalation. The State Department advised US citizens in the region to exercise heightened caution and continuously monitor news outlets for the latest developments.
Travellers were also urged to consult their airlines before travelling to or transiting through the Middle East to verify current flight statuses and ensure air routes remain operational.
Reiterating its strict travel advisory, the State Department emphasized that US citizens should not travel to Iran under any circumstances and should reconsider any plans involving travel to or transit through the broader region.
The advisory outlined several safety recommendations, urging citizens to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid large crowds and demonstrations, maintain a safe distance from heavy police activity, and comply with instructions from local authorities.
