After Strictly Come Dancing's pro dancer cull, long-server Nadiya Bychkova appeared to have been thrown a lifeline after talks that could have seen the Ukrainian return to the show09:19, 21 Jul 2026Updated 10:22, 21 Jul 2026After it seem Nadiya Bychkova had agreed to an incredible Strictly Come Dancing return months after being axed, she has now confirmed there won't be quick-fire comeback.‌The Ukrainian pro dancer confirmed back in March that she wasn't part of the show's future after almost a decade on the BBC dancefloor. The news was days later confirmed by the BBC, who thanked her for her "incredible contribution" saying Nadiya has brought "elegance, artistry and unwavering dedication to the ballroom" since her arrival in 2017.‌But things changed last month and she said in an interview that a return is "absolutely" on the cards - saying they were are talking about her "coming and choreographing some of the pro numbers". But that now doesn't seem to be happening.‌Strictly is due to return in September, with actress Lacey Turner, reality favourite Dani Dyer, singer Delta Goodrem, celeb stylist Chris Appleton and television presenter Will Best some of the big names to already be announced.‌Nadiya was one of five professionals to exit the show this year, with Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk and Michelle Tsiakkas also leaving. She has since been linked with I'm A Celebrity but announced in June that talks are happening which could see her return to play a part in Strictly when it is back on screens in the months ahead. However, those hoping to see her on the hit show will have to wait. while. “Not now because I’m taking some time in August." she said when asked about a possible return by The Sun.“Strictly is already working on the group numbers, but I’ve just finished my second tour with Nikita [Kuzmin], so it’s been full-on. I’m really looking forward to wrapping it all up and going away on holiday with the family.”‌She went on to say that the door isn't closed permanently, adding: “We’ll see what the season brings and how our schedules align. It would definitely be a pleasure to work with the team behind the scenes and be able to create."There appeared to be no hard feelings between Nadiya and Strictly Come Dancing bosses, and earlier this summer talks were underway to see her return to the programme. When quizzed on whether she'd consider returning she told Hello magazine: "Absolutely. It is absolutely [on the cards]. We are talking about, hopefully in the future, me coming and choreographing some of the pro numbers. The team have known for years how passionate I am about creating things and choreographing.‌"Lots of producers came to watch shows that I did myself. This is the natural thing to do, because of what I love and what I want to do. It would be beautiful to see some of my creations and stories [that] I want to tell through dance on Strictly one day."Nadiya released a statement to announce her sad exit from Strictly after nine years. Four other professional dancers exited the show and five new stars will step in to replace them.Speaking about the programme, she said: "After nine wonderful years, this part of my journey with Strictly Come Dancing is evolving. There is something truly special about being part of a programme that plays such a big part in so many people’s lives and I want to thank all those who have sent beautiful messages over the last few weeks and those who have voted, shouted, supported, celebrated and cheered during every series.Article continues below"I also want to take a moment to appreciate all those who have helped me along the way: my partners, my fellow professionals, the judges and brilliant people behind the scenes. I joined the show as an athlete and a double world champion."Like this story?
