From classrooms to the world stage, South Africa's young spellers showcase their talent and determination, clinching fourth place at the Spelling Bee World Cup!

In a historic victory that has sent waves of national pride across Mzansi, Team South Africa clinched a spectacular fourth place globally at the inaugural Spelling Bee World Cup in Shanghai.

Competing against elite young scholars from across North America, Asia and Europe, the six-person delegation proved that South Africa’s youth belong on the world’s grandest academic stages.

Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Wu Peng, officially congratulated the squad, calling their performance "a proud testament to hard work, courage and the growing friendship between China and South Africa."

The squad departed from OR Tambo International Airport on July 14 for the high-stakes tournament, which runs from July 14 to July 19.
