Experts say embracing balance rather than perfection during the colder months may help foster a healthier relationship with food well beyond winter.

Winter's arrival often brings familiar habits, from layering up in warm clothing to spending more time indoors and craving hearty meals such as soups, stews, homemade pasta and desserts.

According to Anthony Silber, Head of Marketing at PURA Beverage Co., these cravings are closely linked to emotion, memory and familiarity.

"For many people, comfort foods are closely linked to positive memories, family traditions and a sense of familiarity," Silber said. "That's why winter often brings those cravings back. Food becomes part of the comfort we naturally look for during the colder months."

He said certain meals often evoke memories of childhood dinners, family gatherings and holidays, despite recipes differing from one household to another.
