The 12-year-old girl was found with serious injuries about 600 metres away along a busy highway in Cannington after fleeing the home and managing to call police.WA Police Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo from the Major Crime Division said both the mother and daughter's injuries were suspected stab wounds.She confirmed the girl managed to escape the residence, on Mills Street, after she was allegedly stabbed by her brother. The 16-year-old boy is in police custody and was arrested this morning at a home in Bentley, in Perth's south east.Inspector Securo said police will investigate the matter as a suspected family violence homicide and said there was no ongoing risk to the wider community. She said: "A 16-year-old male who is the son of the deceased female and the brother of the injured girl has been taken into police custody."While the investigation remains in its early stages, police are investigating this as a suspected family violence homicide and homicide squad have carriage," abc news reports.Inspector Securo confirmed the 12-year-old girl is receiving treatment in Perth Children's Hospital and said that police would examine any past interactions the family had with police.
