While Microsoft gained an early lead through its partnership with OpenAI and the integration of AI tools across its ecosystem, Alphabet has leveraged its decades of research expertise and massive data advantage to compete across search, cloud, and next-generation AI applications.
Despite Microsoft’s head start, that advantage has yet to translate into superior stock performance. Alphabet’s shares have been the clear winner over the past year. To wit, MSFT is down 22%, while GOOGL has surged 83%.
But, of course, past performance is not indicative of future success. So, moving forward from here, which one of these mega caps presents a better opportunity for investors?
