Patients with disseminated coccidioidomycosis (DCM) require lifelong treatment with amphotericin B or triazole antifungal agents, and complete resolution is rare.Among 41 people with DCM and no effective treatment options, nearly three-quarters had a clinical response to the investigational antifungal olorofim.Clinical success rates were roughly twice as high among those without a central nervous system infection versus those with central nervous system infections and implanted devices.

An investigational antifungal was associated with clinical improvements in a majority of patients with disseminated coccidioidomycosis (DCM) who failed standard treatments, according to an open-label phase IIb trial.
