July 19 (Asia Today) -- South Korean President Lee Jae Myung said Sunday that UNESCO's mission reflects independence leader Kim Koo's vision of using cultural strength to promote peace and unity.
"The spirit of UNESCO's Constitution points in exactly the same direction as the insight of Kim Koo, who sought to realize peace through culture and bring humanity together," Lee said.
"We will carry forward his vision by becoming a country that contributes to global peace and prosperity through the power of a flourishing culture," he said.
Lee made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in the southeastern port city of Busan.
