Victory traveled in Louis Vuitton — and ultimately went home with Spain.
Before Spain defeated Argentina to claim the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, the tournament’s trophy arrived on the pitch inside its official Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk. Ambassadors of the French maison Carlos Alcaraz and Hoyeon were joined by former World Cup winners Andrés Iniesta and Mario Kempes for the pre-match presentation. Iniesta represented Spain’s 2010 championship team, while Kempes helped lead Argentina to victory in 1978, creating a symbolic preview of the two nations preparing to meet in the final.
The casting connected football history with fashion’s increasingly expansive sports universe. Alcaraz, who wore a beige silk and cashmere Louis Vuitton single-breasted suit with a white shirt, brought the global reach of another elite sport, while Hoyeon, in a pink satin, braid-embroidered keyhole dress from the house’s cruise 2027 collection, reflected the borderless mix of actors, musicians and athletes now circulating through luxury campaigns and front rows. Iniesta and Kempes supplied the emotional authority of champions who had previously lifted the trophy.
“For over a decade, Louis Vuitton and FIFA have shared an unwavering commitment to excellence, bound by a shared belief in sport’s power to inspire and bring people together,” said Pietro Beccari, chairman and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton. “At its heart stands the world’s most coveted trophy — a symbol of dedication, collective ambition and the ultimate celebration of victory.”
