New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday said it would direct the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to implement an Orissa High Court order requiring changes to the model consent form for generating APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) IDs to explicitly allow parents to refuse consent or opt out of the scheme.A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant was hearing a petition filed by the parents of four students challenging the constitutional validity of the APAAR ID scheme on the ground that it effectively compels students to obtain Aadhaar numbers.Also read: CBSE declares Class 10 Second Board exam results 2026; overall pass percentage at 96.78%The petitioners also raised concerns over the protection, storage and processing of students' personal data and sought strict compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The bench said it would also direct the CBSE to address these concerns.
