Fire and gas pipeline damageThe strike damaged a gas pipeline at the site, causing equipment to catch fire. According to initial reports, specialized services were promptly deployed to respond to the attack. As of the latest update at 4:27 p.m., emergency workers were still at the site.Air raid alert following the strikeAn air alert was issued for the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and Izmail districts of the Odesa region, warning residents to stay vigilant. The attack adds to a pattern of ongoing Russian strikes on civilian and industrial targets across the Odesa region. Earlier on Monday, a Russian missile struck the Turkish-owned cargo ship Golden Leo as it departed Odesa with grain, killing 10 people in an attack Ukrainian officials said deliberately targeted civilian shipping.Russian forces launched a series of strikes on Odesa and the region’s port infrastructure on July 18 as well, damaging civilian facilities and hitting a foreign commercial vessel. The attack followed a Russian strike on two merchant ships in the Black Sea on July 14, which killed the captain of a Tanzania-flagged vessel and injured three crew members, while a separate drone strike the same evening killed two more people aboard a Marshall Islands-flagged ship.
