Employees of Cooperative bank and ration shops staged a protest at Dindigul Collectorate on Monday urging the authorities to fulfil their charter of demands. Over 300 employees participated in the protests.The demands included implementation of revised wages and payment of arrears. The employees said practical difficulties faced in executing ‘Thayumanavar’ scheme should be resolved. Employees, on consideration, should also get transfers so that they can work from their home districts or places near their residences, they said.They said employment should be provided to heirs of employees who died without service regularisation, on compassionate grounds. Over 1,300 employees staged protests across the district by taking a day’s leave. They urged the authorities to fulfil their charter of demands. Published - July 20, 2026 10:14 pm IST
