Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela has ordered an urgent governance assessment at MICT SETA, saying the process will help strengthen accountability, institutional stability and service delivery across the sector.
Higher Education and Training Minister Buti Manamela has referred governance and leadership concerns at the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA) to the National Skills Authority (NSA) for an urgent assessment.
The move follows governance matters involving the Accounting Authority and executive management, as well as the recent resignation of senior executives at MICT SETA.
In a statement, the Minister's spokesperson Matshepo Seedat said the National Skills Authority had been asked to conduct a rapid governance assessment to establish the relevant facts, evaluate governance processes and identify any interventions needed to safeguard institutional stability, service delivery and good governance.
"The National Skills Authority is expected to engage relevant stakeholders before providing the minister with an interim briefing on urgent matters, followed by a comprehensive report with recommendations within the prescribed timeframe," she said.
