The company procured the electric vans from RangsX, the electric mobility brand of Rangs Motors, the automotive arm of local industrial conglomerate Rangs Group. RangsX delivered these electric vans at the Rangs Assembly Plant in Sonargaon, about 40 kilometres southeast of Dhaka, on 8 July.
DHL Express’ new EV fleet consists entirely of the Dongfeng EM26 panel van. RangsX claims this model has a low operating cost of 3 Taka (0.02 euros) per kilometre. While it is available in multiple configurations internationally, the one the company offers in Bangladesh measures 4.9 m in length, 1.7 m in width, and 2.07 m in height and has a 3.05 m wheelbase.
The Dongfeng EM26 has a two-seat cab and offers nearly 6 m3 of cargo space. The latter is accessible via manually sliding side doors and twin side-opening tailgate doors. The electric van has a maximum payload capacity of 1.23 tonnes.
Powering the Dongfeng EM26 is a 70 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor manufactured by Lingdian. This single drive unit draws energy from an IP67-rated, 41.86 kWh LFP battery pack sourced from CATL. RangsX says that the battery pack takes 7.5 hours to charge, although it does not specify the starting and ending state-of-charge levels. The company claims the electric van offers a range of 270 kilometres.
