Heartbreaking scene as baby baboon refuses to leave dead mother before rescuers step in.

A tiny baby baboon has been given a second chance at life after she was found nestling against the body of her dead mother in an undisclosed town, appearing lost and vulnerable as she stayed close to the only source of comfort she knew.

The heartbreaking sight captured the reality of the dangers faced by orphaned wildlife, with the young baboon seemingly unaware that her mother would no longer be there to protect her.

The Owl Rescue Centre, a wildlife rescue organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation and protection of injured, orphaned and displaced animals, responded to the call for help and travelled for three hours to reach the vulnerable youngster.

Despite the trauma she experienced, rescuers said she is healthy, happy and settling in well.
