The Rapture is a new five-part BBC drama series starring Queen Charlotte's India Amarteifio and Years and Years star Ruth Madeley.11:33, 20 Jul 2026BBC viewers will see the thriller air this weekend.‌There's good news for BBC viewers as a new thriller is set to keep people hooked with a fresh five-part series.‌The Rapture, which has been filmed in Wales, features the likes of India Amarteifio and Ruth Madeley as they play Dr Gabs Fox and 17-year-old Bethany Krall.‌Ahead of the show airing on Sunday night (July 26), India, who is best-known for starring in Netflix's Queen Charlotte, detailed what it was like to film the series in Wales.She told the BBC: "I've filmed briefly in Wales before, but this is the first time I've spent a longer period here, and it's been unreal. I'm such a country girl, so it's been perfect.‌"I've been staying on a farm, so after a really intense day, going back to see the horses, the cows, and the beautiful green meadows has been amazing. I've also loved learning more about Wales by being here and speaking to the crew and cast."Meanwhile, Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon, who plays journalist Dick Carwyn added: "It's always nice to come back and film in Wales. There have been quite a variety of locations. Margam Park is really nice. We filmed a lot in Port Talbot, and it was like 35 degrees, which is bizarre, because I don't think it's ever been that hot there!"But yes, it's quite nice to be in various locations all around South Wales. And Dragon Studios, of course. It's been lovely. I love coming back here."‌The ensemble cast also features Stephen Campbell Moore, Lisa Palfrey, Siena Kelly, Naby Dakhli, Richard Elis, Dean Rehman, Robert Rhodes and Ruth Jones.The story centres on Dr Gabs Fox (Ruth), left paralysed following a car accident that claimed her husband's life, who is assigned 17-year-old patient Bethany Krall (India) after taking up a new position at a psychiatric hospital.‌Bethany was sectioned for the brutal killing of her mother two years earlier - a case that gripped the nation, particularly given that her father, Leonard Krall (Sam Hazeldine), leads a spiritual movement boasting millions of online followers.While Bethany claims to experience visions of the future - depicted through deeply disturbing sketches of catastrophic events - she also appears to possess intimate knowledge of Gabs' personal life.Despite her nurse Rafiq insisting the teenager's predictions invariably prove accurate, Gabs remains sceptical, hell-bent on finding a rational, clinical explanation, reports Wales Online.‌A synopsis reads: "As the heat intensifies, Gabs begins to notice unsettling connections between Bethany's prophetic drawings and the world outside, forcing Gabs to re-examine her assumptions. Could Bethany be innocent after all?
