Ed Balls was left frustrated as he discussed the World Cup final on Good Morning Britain07:44, 20 Jul 2026The hosts of Good Morning Britain were not impressed during the latest live show.‌Ed Balls and Susanna Reid returned to the ITV studios on Monday (July 20) to deliver the day's biggest headlines, including Andy Burnham's upcoming appointment as the prime minister.‌The presenters also reflected on the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, which saw Spain lift the golden trophy after a 1-0 win in extra time. Ed quickly slammed the behaviour of the Argentinian players, who broke out into fights after the full-time whistle was blown.‌"We're waking up this morning to another prime minister arriving, we'll talk about that in a moment. We're also waking up to the news that after one of the best World Cup tournaments, we had one of the nastiest World Cup finals ever. But Argentina lost and Spain are the champions," he began.Kevin Maguire added: "That was good because the Argentinians were so dirty. When I watched it, I was just willing it to end in normal time. I thought, 'I don't want anymore of this,' and we had another half hour.‌"But the better team won. I don't know how you tackle a team like Argentina, unless [the] referees just get tough, because the ref let so much go and it made them worse!"Kwasi Kwarteng noted that one player had been sent off, with Ed adding: "They could of sent off seven by that point!" Kwasi added: "[The referee] did take action and it meant that Argentina did play with ten men."A clip of fights breaking out on the pitch at the end of the match was then played on screen, with Susanna noting: "Absolutely appalling behaviour. Of course, England experienced some pretty dirty behaviour as well."‌Ed bluntly said: "They're a total bunch of thugs! The Argentina football team were shocking!" Susanna added: "I think a lot of people wanted Spain to win last night."Kevin went on to say: "Argentina are kind of a fantastic team.
