VA Tech Wabag Limited on Monday secured a ‘Large’ order from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for two energy-efficient wastewater treatment facilities in Bengaluru, the Chennai-based water technology company disclosed to stock exchanges.The contract covers Design, Build and Operate (DBO) of a 100 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and a 25 MLD Tertiary Treatment Plant (TTP) at Byramangala, and a 60 MLD STP at Bellandur. Under WABAG’s order classification, a ‘Large’ domestic order implies a contract value between ₹250 crore and ₹600 crore.The scope includes EPC work — design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning — along with biogas-based captive power generation.The STPs will use the Activated Sludge Process integrated with a Biological Nutrient Removal system, while the Byramangala TTP will employ Ultrafiltration technology to produce treated water suitable for release into surrounding water bodies.EPC work is to be completed within 36 months, followed by a seven-year Operations and Maintenance period.Notably, WABAG had previously executed the first phase of the Bellandur facility and has now been awarded its second phase as well.WABAG shares were trading at ₹2,076.20 on the NSE on Monday, up 4.27 per cent from the previous close of ₹1,991.10, with intraday volumes of approximately 8.51 lakh shares. The stock has risen nearly 58 per cent year-to-date and over 305 per cent in three years.The projects are intended to address Bengaluru’s growing wastewater challenges driven by rapid urbanisation, while supporting the city’s sustainability and circular economy goals through reduced greenhouse gas emissions and energy recovery from biogas.Published on July 20, 2026
