Julius Malema, the EFF's leader, and Ngizwi Mchunu will go to court over defamation allegations.
The fight is far from over, even though social commentator Ngizwe Mchunu has apologised to EFF leader Julius Malema for making defamatory remarks. The court is now scheduled to hear oral testimony regarding the ongoing controversy.
Malema now requests that Mchunu be sentenced to six months' direct imprisonment for contempt of court at the most recent hearing before the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
Between May 12 and June 18, Malema had to approach the urgent court on four occasions to prevent Mchunu from defaming him and to compel Mchunu to desist from making defamatory remarks against Malema.
Mchunu has, meanwhile, issued an unreserved public apology to the court and Malema after being found guilty of contempt of court for violating previous court orders that barred him from repeating certain allegations and insults directed at the opposition politician.
