Poland will have only limited opportunities to use funding from the SAFE program for joint defense projects with Ukraine.

Former Polish National Defense Minister Janusz Onyszkiewicz said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"The scope is relatively limited because SAFE is a program aimed specifically at revitalizing and expanding the European defense industry," Onyszkiewicz noted.

According to him, while the mechanism allows for some cooperation with the United Kingdom and Ukraine, those opportunities will remain restricted.

"There are opportunities for cooperation and the use of these funds together with other countries, including the United Kingdom and Ukraine. However, they will account for only a relatively small share of the funding Poland receives under SAFE," he said.
