Ponmanikandan Ponraj from Coimbatore has been awarded the Global Citizen Scholarship by Global Schools Group (GSG) to pursue Classes XI and XII at the GIIS SMART Campus in Singapore.He is among the 12 students selected from across India for the scholarship, which covers tuition fees, boarding, accommodation, living expenses and a stipend. GSG said the scholarship is valued at around ₹1 crore per student for over two years.Ponmanikandan was selected through a multi-stage process that evaluated academic performance, leadership potential, communication skills, problem-solving ability, extracurricular achievements and community involvement.The scholarship recipients were felicitated at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Saturday (July 18, 2026).Pramod Tripathi, Director (Academics), Global Schools Group, said the scholarship aims to support academically talented students by providing access to international education.Ponmanikandan said the opportunity would help him gain global exposure and pursue his academic aspirations in Singapore.
