Users in Bangladesh reported difficulty accessing their Facebook accounts from desktop and laptop computers from around 1:40pm today, while many said they were still able to access the social media platform through its mobile application.The service disruption blocked users in multiple countries from accessing the platform.Several users took to other social media platforms to complain that they were unable to sign in to Facebook via web browsers on their PCs.Desktop users attempting to access Facebook were shown an error message stating: "Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."On the mobile app, some users reported that Facebook remained frozen on previously loaded pages and did not refresh new content.Internet service providers (ISPs) and bandwidth suppliers said there was no disruption in internet connectivity from their end and that they had not received any government instruction to block access to Facebook."There is no disruption in the internet supply chain," said Sumon Ahmed Sabir, chief technology officer of Fiber@Home, one of the country's largest wholesale internet bandwidth providers.Meta, the parent company of Facebook, could not be reached immediately for comment.It was not immediately clear whether the disruption was caused by a technical glitch on Facebook's end or another issue.The extent of the disruption and the number of affected users could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
