Radek Vitek has opened the door to leaving Manchester United on a permanent basis this summer.The 22-year-old goalkeeper has spent the last two seasons on loan away from United, but played 45 minutes in their opening game of pre-season tour against Wrexham on Saturday. Following the 1-0 defeat, Vitek made his ambitions clear to those assembled within the media mixed zone.“I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to be, hopefully, number one, so we will see. We will see what is going to happen,” the goalkeeper said.Vitek has earned plaudits for a series of impressive performances in the Championship for Bristol City in 2025-26. He has a preference to continue to his career as a number one at a different club, rather than serve as Senne Lammens back up for the upcoming Premier League season.
“At the moment, I am still here, but we will see,” he added. “I hope there will be some interest. I think you will know when things are more concrete.”United have spent this summer reworking their goalkeeping options behind Lammens, who featured for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup.In early June, Tom Heaton signed a new one year contract at the club, and last week, United confirmed their signing of free agent Karl Darlow following his Leeds United departure. Andre Onana has signed another season-long loan with Trabzonspor, and the club continues to look for suitors for Turkey international Altay Bayindir.The transfer moves will have a direct impact on Vitek’s changes at earning playing time at Old Trafford, leaving the former Czech Republic youth international open to leaving United on another loan, or a possible permanent deal.“I am ready for both, to be fair,” said the goalkeeper in the mixed zone after the game. “Depends what the club wants and also depends on the options. We will see.“There have been a few interests on the table. But we hope to get the best one and hopefully it will happen soon.”United will continue their pre-season tour with a friendly against Norwegian side Rosenberg in Trondheim on July 24.
