Nigerian gospel singer and worship leader Enkay Ogboruche has been inducted into the Recording Academy’s 2026 New Member Class, a development that further strengthens the growing global recognition of African gospel music.

The Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammy Awards, is regarded as one of the world’s most influential music institutions. Its members comprise accomplished artistes, producers, songwriters and other music professionals who help shape the global music industry and vote on Grammy Award nominees and winners.

Reacting to the announcement, Enkay, whose real name is Nkiruka Gift Ogboruche, described the induction as a privilege and an opportunity to contribute to the future of the music industry.

She said she was excited to join a community of creators and professionals committed to supporting, uplifting and advocating for those who make music, adding that she looks forward to participating in conversations that drive the industry forward.
