Poor parking habits in Apia are contributing to traffic congestion during peak hours, with motorists, commuters and business owners saying inconsiderate parking is making travel through the capital increasingly difficult.
Drivers say vehicles parked too close to intersections, occupying loading zones, blocking driveways or stopping briefly in busy areas reduce traffic flow, particularly during the morning and afternoon rush.
Taxi driver Tavita Fepuleai, 46, said poorly parked vehicles often force motorists to slow down or wait for oncoming traffic before proceeding.
"Some drivers stop wherever it is convenient for them without thinking about how it affects everyone else," he said. "It only takes one poorly parked vehicle to create a traffic backup."
Office worker Eseta Manumalo, 31, said congestion has become a daily part of her commute.
