NSW officers located the man on Sexton Hill Drive at Banora Point. The man failed to stop when directed to do so and a police pursuit was initiated, continuing through multiple nearby suburbs before road spikes were successfully deployed twice in South Murwillumbah. He continued to drive for some time before stopping down an embankment on Kyogle Road in Kunghur – about a half hour south-west of Murwillumbah – about 2am.On Sunday afternoon, Acting Assistant Commissioner Tracy Chapman from the NSW Police Northern Region said she “wouldn’t speculate” the cause of death until a post-mortem and independent investigation had taken place.“At about 3am police approached that vehicle and sighted a man in seated in the vehicle with a firearm across his lap,” she said.“They deployed OC [capsicum] spray and removed the man from the vehicle.“At that time, police became aware the man was unconscious, and they immediately rendered first aid, including CPR.
