Cardiologist J.S.N. Murthy was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at TIC 2026, the annual conference of the Tamil Nadu Interventional Council, on Saturday by Health Minister K.G. Arunraj and Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar. He was also a former Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Cardiology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute. For over four decades, Dr. Murthy has quietly lived by a simple belief—that no patient should be denied treatment because of poverty. From the devastation of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to the 2014 Jammu & Kashmir floods, the 2017 Kerala floods, and the 2023 initiative that brought children with congenital heart disease from Mizoram to Chennai for life-saving surgery, Dr. Murthy has demonstrated that compassion knows neither geography nor circumstance.
