At a ceremony recognising efforts to strengthen India’s stem cell donor ecosystem, DKMS Foundation, India, hosted the ‘Lifesaver Honours Night’ in Bengaluru on Wednesday, bringing together medical professionals, institutions, corporate partners and advocates working in the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders.
Among the awardees was Afshan Yasmeen, Deputy Editor, The Hindu, Bengaluru, who received the Excellence in Blood Cancer and Blood Disorders Reporting award for her story, “A Silent Burden: Thalassaemia Patients in Karnataka Battle Disease with Hope and Hardship.” The award recognised impactful journalism that helped bring attention to the challenges faced by patients and caregivers.
