Over 200 persons from healthcare, academia, corporate organisations, service clubs and the general public participated in a “Dementia Awareness Rally” organised by The Dementia Care Foundation (TDCF) on Saturday. The rally, which was organised at Elliot’s Beach, aimed at raising awareness about dementia and advocating for a more dementia-friendly and inclusive community.P. Suresh, managing director, Arun Excello, who flagged off the rally, emphasised the importance of increasing public awareness about dementia and fostering communities that support elders with dementia and their caregivers with dignity, empathy, and compassion.Representatives of TDCF highlighted that dementia is a growing public health challenge affecting millions of individuals and families worldwide. They emphasised that increasing awareness, encouraging early diagnosis, supporting caregivers, reducing stigma, and building inclusive communities are essential steps toward improving the quality of life of elders with dementia, according to a press release.
