The district police traced a missing minor girl within 10 hours of her disappearance from a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) hostel, using the advanced CCTV-360 surveillance system.Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Narsipatnam Sub-Division, P. Srinivasa Rao said the girl had gone missing from the Makavarapalem police station limits on July 17. Following the registration of a case, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha directed officials to launch a search operation and constituted four teams, including Narsipatnam Circle Inspector Revathamma and Makavarapalem Sub-Inspector Damodar Naidu.Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the police analysed technical evidence, tracked mobile phone locations and worked in coordination with the district IT Core Team while conducting extensive searches. A breakthrough came at around 9.40 a.m. on Saturday when the CCTV-360 surveillance system installed at Annavaram detected the girl’s movement and generated an automatic alert. Acting on the alert, police personnel rushed to the location and traced the girl safely.After she was brought back, the Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Narsipatnam Rural Inspector counselled the girl, her parents and the school warden. They advised them on measures to prevent such incidents in future before handing over the girl to her parents.Mr. Sinha said the case demonstrated the effectiveness of the CCTV-360 surveillance system in tracing missing persons quickly and highlighted its role in improving police response through the use of advanced surveillance technology.
