CEBU CITY, Philippines — Philippine Eagle Sawaga-Dalwangan, the critically endangered raptor that was rescued earlier this month amid a monkey attack, has died while undergoing rehabilitation at the Philippine Eagle Center, the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) announced on Monday, July 13.
The foundation said the young eagle, which also bore pellet gun injuries, initially showed encouraging signs of recovery.
“After her rescue, she showed real signs of improvement. She became stronger and more alert, ate on her own, and responded well to treatment,” the PEF said in a statement.
