RIYADH: The Red Sea Film Foundation made a notable showing at the 14th “Final Cut” program, part of the Venice Film Festival, after five films it supported were selected to take part in the initiative, which is dedicated to backing upcoming film projects from the Middle East and Africa.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the list included “From the Quarter to Thursday,” which received support from the Red Sea Souk and the Red Sea Labs, while the films backed by the Red Sea Fund were “Eldorado: Taste of the South,” “Mihal Safari,” “The Occupation and the State” and “Bala’a.”
The “Final Cut” program is one of the initiatives specialized in supporting films still in production, giving their makers the chance to present their projects to producers and distributors from across the global film industry, helping them complete post-production and boost their prospects for international distribution and screening.
The program falls under the “Venice Production Bridge” initiative, part of the Venice Film Festival, which is dedicated to supporting promising talent and film projects from the region and creating avenues to connect with international partners in the film industry.
The selection of these films reflects the impact of the Red Sea Film Foundation’s programs in supporting creatives, empowering Arab and African film projects, and strengthening their presence at the world’s leading film festivals and platforms.
