As the U.S. residential solar market shifts toward more flexible, localized energy generation, APsystems has launched its third-generation dual-module microinverter specifically designed for the do-it-yourself (DIY) and balcony solar segments. The newly introduced EZ1-LV microinverter aims to streamline decentralized, small-scale solar deployments by offering a true plug-and-play grid connection without requiring complex, hardwired electrical work.

Designed exclusively for applications such as balconies, gardens, garages, and carports, the EZ1-LV allows users to leverage an optional 16 AWG, 5-meter AC extension cable equipped with a standard 120 V plug. This enables a direct connection into a standard household wall socket, drastically reducing installation time and lowering barriers to solar adoption for renters and homeowners alike. The manufacturer explicitly notes that the system is not intended for standard rooftop solar arrays.

Despite its focus on the DIY market, the EZ1-LV is a robust piece of power electronics. The dual-channel microinverter boasts a maximum continuous output power of 900 VA and interfaces with two PV modules simultaneously. To accommodate today’s high-power, large-format solar panels, each input channel supports a high maximum input current of 18 A (with a 25 A short-circuit current capability) and features independent Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) operating between 27 V and 45 V. The system supports recommended PV module power ratings ranging from 315 Wp to upwards of 660 Wp.
