The Greater Chennai Police (GCP) on Friday destroyed 1,339.39 kg of ganja seized in criminals cases registered across the city.The destruction was carried out by the Drug Disposal Committee (DDC) constituted under the directions of GCP Commissioner A. Amalraj. The committee was headed by Additional Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) A.G. Babu. The seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were scientifically incinerated at an authorised facility near Chengalpattu, in compliance with environmental and legal regulations.The destroyed contraband comprised 1,339.39 kg of ganja seized in 574 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at various police stations across Chennai.
