Khayelitsha youth discover their dreams atop Table Mountain Transformative journey for Khayelitsha footballers: Dreams beyond the pitch
For a group of young footballers from Khayelitsha, a recent trip across Cape Town was about far more than sightseeing or football. It was a chance to step outside their everyday surroundings, see their city from a different perspective and imagine futures that stretched far beyond the pitch.
Standing atop Table Mountain with the city spread out beneath them, each child was asked a simple question: What is your biggest dream?
The answers were as varied as they were inspiring. Some imagined themselves wearing the green and gold of Bafana Bafana one day, while others dreamed of becoming teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs and community leaders.
The experience formed part of Hands on the Future, an initiative by Hisense South Africa, designed to encourage young people to believe that where they start does not determine where they can go.
