Members of the Kearsney College Choir celebrate their golden success at the World Choral Festival in Hong Kong.
The Kearsney College Choir returns home this weekend after an exceptional debut at the prestigious World Choral Festival in Hong Kong, where it emerged as one of the competition's standout performers, winning double gold and receiving more awards than any other choir at the event.
The choir won gold medals in both the Youth Choirs and Show Choirs categories, to earn a coveted place at the festival's final Grand Prix Concert, where category winners from across the world participated.
The accolades continued there, with Kearsney receiving awards for Best Interpretation of the Music and Best Stage Presence, as well as the coveted Jury Prize. This prize recognised the choir's musical excellence, artistic merit and consistently outstanding performances throughout the festival. The awards were decided by an international jury comprising 38 conductors from 17 countries.
Held under the auspices of the European Grand Prix for Choral Music, the World Choral Festival is one ofthe world's leading international choral competitions. More than 70 choirs from 19 countries participated, with ensembles travelling from countries including New Zealand, Canada, Latvia, Estonia and Malaysia. Kearsney was the only choir representing Africa.
